Tracey Solicitors LLP Scholarship awarded for second year

The Tracey Solicitors LLP Scholarship in Law and Criminology has returned for a second year at Maynooth University, continuing its support for students pursuing a future in the legal profession.

The scholarship is available to final-year undergraduate Law and Criminology students registered with the Maynooth University Access Programme (MAP). It combines financial assistance with career development opportunities and mentorship, helping students complete their studies and prepare for the next stage of their legal careers.

Amie Hughes named this year’s scholarship recipient

Following a competitive selection process, final-year student Amie Hughes has been named this year’s recipient of the scholarship.

Reflecting on her experience at Maynooth University and the importance of the scholarship, Amie said:

“One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that there is no single path into education, and that having people who believe in you can make all the difference. Throughout my time at Maynooth, the support of the School of Law and Criminology has helped me grow in confidence and in my ambitions for the future.

Receiving the Tracey Solicitors Scholarship in my final year means so much to me, and I’m incredibly grateful to Tracey Solicitors and the School for their encouragement and support as I take the next steps towards a career in law. I’m excited to work with and learn from both over the coming months.”

Supporting access and diversity in the legal profession

Partner Maria Lakes was involved in the selection process and will mentor Amie throughout the year.

Maria is a strong advocate for the role access programmes play in promoting diversity within the legal profession.

“This scholarship reflects our commitment to widening access to legal education and helping students from diverse backgrounds pursue careers in law.”

Welcoming the continuation of the partnership, incoming Head of the School of Law and Criminology, Professor Tobias Lock, also highlighted the value of both the financial support and the mentorship offered through the initiative.

He commented: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Tracey Solicitors LLP. This scholarship makes a real difference to our students, and the mentorship that comes with it is just as valuable as the funding. Congratulations to Amie, and our sincere thanks to everyone at Tracey Solicitors LLP.”
