In the current economic climate, unfortunately redundancy is very common. If you have been unfortunate enough to have been made redundant we at Tracey Solicitors will be able to advise you of your rights and entitlements.
Being made redundant is a very difficult experience and it is vital that you remember that a redundancy is not a personal decision against you. Redundancy arises for a variety of reasons such as the employer no longer carrying on business or carrying on the business with fewer employees. The redundancy relates to the situation with the job rather than you as the person doing the job.
If you think you have been unfairly selected for redundancy this may constitute an unfair dismissal and you may be able to claim.
If you have been denied your rightful redundancy entitlements you may be able to claim under Irish Redundancy Law. If you have worked with your employer for two years you will be entitled to at least statutory redundancy which is two weeks wages for each year of service plus one additional normal week’s wages.
If you are considering discussing your redundancy entitlements or an unfair dismissal with a Solicitor it is important that you do so promptly, there are steps that you must take in order to substantiate your claim and certain time limits in order to proceed with an action may apply.
