World day of remembrance for Road Traffic Victims- 15th November
The World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims was initiated in 1993 and takes place on the third Sunday in November every year.
This year it takes place on the 15th of November 2015
It is dedicated to remembering those killed and injured in road Traffic accidents and those affected by their death or serious personal injury.
On 26 October 2005, the United Nations adopted a resolution calling for governments to mark this day every year in order to remember victims of Road Traffic Accidents.
Observing this day draws attention to road traffic accidents, their consequences and costs and what can be done to prevent them.
It is also a good way to remind governments and society of their responsibility to make roads safer.
This year, Members of An Garda Siochana, Local County councils, Emergency Services and victim support groups are joining forces with the RSA to remember those who have died on our roads.
Services will be held across the country to remember those we have lost and those who have suffered personal injuries as a result of accidents on our roads.
