DIY – Decoration It Yourself!
Maybe Christmas is the most expensive time of year for you, or you’re sick of the same red baubles on the tree, or you simply want to enjoy some crafts with the kids this festive season! We have our top picks on some DIY festive decorations that all the family can enjoy:
Make a Different Kind of Tree
Both old and new Christmas cards work well for this incredibly easy DIY! If you have a large blank wall in your home, place each card on the wall in the shape of a Christmas tree using blue-tack. It’s that simple and a lovely way to display your cards for all the visitors to see!
Light Up The Table
Attach a loop of red-and-white cord to the base of an old colourful Christmas bulb with hot glue; wrap base completely with twine and tie around rolled napkin!
Holly Up Your Drinks
Simply attach small cut holly leaves and berries from red and white card to a red and white paper straw with a dab of hot glue! Festive and much better for the environment than the plastic ones!
Shake it Up
Make it snow in miniature form! Turn a glass salt shaker into snowy scenes by filling it with toy Christmas trees, deer and anything else you can find festive!
Bake Something for Your Tree
To bake up your own salt dough tree decoration: Mix 4 cups of flour, 1 cup of salt, and 1 1/2 cups of warm water in a mixing bowl. Knead until the dough is firm and smooth. Roll out dough and use any Christmas cutters your heart desires and cut a small hole at the top of each one. Bake at 150oC for approx. 1 hour. Let cool fully and put a small ribbon through the hole at the top and hang on the tree!
